Minimalism has been a breakout lifestyle for quite a while. It's become popular on social media, which many YouTube creators have duplicated the work of others (pretending to be an expert), and is still a hot topic today in a world full of chaos.
The general rule of minimalism is keep things that matter the most close at hand while practicing the idea of eliminating or outsourcing practices that do not deliver a direct impact on your mindset or goals. So, what does minimalism have to do with business?
Keeps you more accountable.
Frees up time while maintaining your focus.
Used the right way could save your business money.
Separates a 'fad' business from a 'true' business.
Accountability
Keeping yourself accountable for your business in both success and failure is vital in keeping your clients and customers. When we do the right thing, in any given circumstance, our clients can see our intentions behind the action. Even if you make a mistake, taking corrective action in the most seamless and direct manner is appreciated, as your client can sense an action from a reaction.
Frees Up Time and Brings Better Focus
When you're running your business, you can choose to take on all of the responsibilities yourself, or delegate some of the responsibilities to others who have better skills than you. Ultimately, delegating responsibilities, even for the smallest Micro Business, is essential in bringing focus back to your creations, clients, and services you offer. This concept can even help improving current products and services to offer something even better to your clients.
Save Money
Budget. It's a word people either love or hate. In business, it's a very important topic to discuss with your team or keep in check with yourself every 6 months, 3 months, or even monthly. Saving money means measuring value, and value my friend, is the key. If your clients didn't find value in your products or service, they would look elsewhere. This concept should be applied within your business as well. Find the value in products and services that make your business work like a well oiled machine and trim the rest.
Fad Business Versus True Business
As I mentioned earlier, the difference in a Fad Business and a True Business is as clear as day. Like in the example above, YouTubers taking other successful creators ideas and duplicating them as their own is a Fad Business - quite simply, this is a person who does not respect the idea and value of others and shouldn't be in a creator's role. A True Business is one who can take another creator's concept or idea (or preferably their own product or idea without the use of A.I.), and make it a signature service, product, or idea all their own.
In Conclusion
Umm......I don't see the word, "minimalism" used in any of the above topics - and you shouldn't. Minimalism is a practice of value, sustainability, and removing the rest. But each definition of value depends on the business owner and practice in place to maintain the flow of the business according to their own Mission Statement.
